The Hamasho area is a highland found in the Sidama Region, southern Ethiopia. The word ‘hamasho’ translates to ‘serpent’ from the local language. The area is well known for its high-quality coffee production.

‘Peaberry’ beans are actually formed thanks to a natural genetic mutation within the coffee cherry itself. Most cherries contain two seed (or ‘beans’). Between 5-10% of the time however, one ovule within the cherry fails to pollenate, which leaves extra room for a single seed to develop. Some believe peaberry coffee generally has a sweeter cup profile, perhaps because the single bean of a peaberry does not need to share any of the nutrients with another bean.
